Running is a much-beloved sport and form of exercise for many people around the world, regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity. Runner Marco Bitran provides some tips for the uninitiated who want to join millions of others regularly pounding the pavement.
Start Slow: Don’t expect to hit the ground running. If you don’t exercise regularly, running can take a toll on your body, leading to fatigue and injury. Instead of running right away, take 30-minute walks for a while and gradually work yourself up to a brisk pace.
Keep Records: A running log can help keep you on track. Note in your log the distance of each run or walk, the time you spent, fatigue level, and any other information you find pertinent.
Eat Well: Good nutrition is key to developing as an athlete. In fact, whether you are trying to lose weight or train for a marathon, watching what you eat can will give your body the nourishment it needs to excel on the run.
